Jaipur Enamel Fan Pendant
$100.00
I could have happily gotten lost in the busy Bazaars of Jaipur. Small crowded walkways filled with jewelry, fabric, food, color and life. But not everything you find is authentic. It took some hunting to find this lovely Jaipur Enamel Pendant.
Most of the “enamel” sold in souvenir shops is poor quality colored copper with paint rather than glass.
Known as minakari, enameling in Rajasthan is a hereditary craft that has been popular in India since the Mughal period, and which grained prominence in the 18th and 19th centuries.
The Jaipur Enamel Fan Pendant is reminiscent of traditional Mendhi designs, with striking dark and vibrant blue enamel and small blue glass beads.
