Inspiration

For those of you who don’t know me I was born in Australia, I am half Punjabi and half(ish) Scottish. I have always loved making things, sewing, and crafting. I have always been a traveler, a collector of fabrics, jewelry and small objects. For the longest time I gave away the things I collected as gifts or held onto them because I simply couldn’t part with the beautiful things I had found. But at some point you find your home overflowing with scarves, fabrics, bits and pieces, shiny rocks…..all manner of oddities. And I had to face the fact that I needed to do something with all these lovely things.

Rather than keep them all to myself I opened Anomalous Territories so I could share what I love with you. It is wonderful to send out a scarf or piece of jewelry to someone who will appreciate it’s beauty and rarity as much as I do. Someone who won’t just keep it in a closet and think…yes one day I will wear this. I am guilty of keeping things “for special occasions” and then never finding as excuse to use them.

I want you to know that I personally find or make all the items in the store. Found items including scarves and some of the jewelry are purchased from street stalls, markets, and often from the people who have made them.

The items listed as “Hand made” are items made by me, and as such each one is pretty unique and inspired by my travels or my wandering around my city. In time I will tell you the stores behind the things I find and make. Please send me a note or comment if there is something you want to know or if there is a piece you like that evokes a memory. I would love to hear your stories as well.
